Galvashield® DAS
Distributed Anode System for Controlling Corrosion on Reinforced Concrete Structures
Galvashield® DAS is a distributed galvanic anode system designed to protect reinforced concrete decks, columns, beams and walls. The cathodic protection anodes are installed in new concrete, embedded in concrete overlays, encapsulated inside reinforced concrete jackets or stay-in-place forms for column protection, and at new/old concrete interfaces for targeted repairs such as joint repairs and bridge widening.
Galvashield® DAS Type C (Cast) anodes contain alkali-activated mortar cast around a high purity zinc core. Galvashield® DAS Type F (Foil) anodes are alkali-activated zinc with an exterior zinc foil wrap to provide a high burst of initial current. For applications where anodes will be installed in submerged or tidal conditions i.e. piles, use Galvashield® DAS Marine anodes.
Type F (Foil Wrapped) and Type C (Cast Mortar) Anodes: Weights and Lengths | ||
---|---|---|
Zinc Weights | 25 = 0.25 lb/ft | 37 = 0.37 kg/m |
60 = 0.6 lb/ft | 89 = 0.89 kg/m | |
120 = 1.2 lb/ft | 180 = 1.8 kg/m | |
Lengths | 36 to 78 in | 100 to 200 cm |
Galvashield® DAS Marine anodes provide galvanic cathodic protection to concrete piles in submerged and tidal marine environments. Galvashield® DAS Marine anodes can be used in saltwater, brackish water, and fresh water where the anodes may be submerged during and after installation. Galvashield® DAS Marine anodes are used as part of the Galvashield Jacket System to protect corroding concrete and steel piles on bridges, wharfs and other marine structures.
Galvashield® DAS Type M (Marine) anodes are alkali-activated zinc anodes with an exterior layer of portland cement mortar. Because these anodes are self-activated, they can provide excellent protection to concrete elements exposed to a range of humidity conditions (submerged, splash zone, periodic spray and atmospheric). Galvashield® DAS Type W (Wicking) anodes are high purity zinc anodes surrounded with a special wicking fabric that provides for direct saltwater exposure to the zinc core within the jacket and excellent long-term performance.
