Parking Garages Concrete parking structures across the country are suffering from the effects of corrosion of embedded reinforcing steel. Snow melt off of parked cars contain de-icing salts that cause corrosion. The evidence of this corrosion activity is cracked and broken concrete that is not only unsightly but unsafe. Unchecked corrosion activity has caused spalled concrete to fall from the ceiling of parking garages or worse yet, cause major structural damage. Costly concrete rehabilitation projects are not only disruptive to patrons, but can also be a source of lost revenue. Investing in a corrosion mitigation solution that extends the life of parking structures makes good cents. Typical applications include Galvashield® XP or Galvashield® XP+ anodes to extend the life of patch repairs and to protect around the perimeter of slab replacements. Galvashield® CC anodes are used as a proactive solution for corrosion "hot spots" in columns, beams, decks and post-tensioned anchorages. In some cases, it is justified to provide the highest level of protection with the installation of a cathodic protection system. Impressed current cathodic protection can be provided with Ebonex® anodes. An economical and low maintenance approach to galvanic protection is Galvanode® ASZ+ humectant activated zinc metalizing. |
