Project Description:
Leaking expansion joints on Iowa 192 viaduct was the cause of chloride penetration to the prestressed concrete girder ends directly below the expansion joint.

Project Solution:
To combat the increasing maintenance costs due to corrosion and reduce premature failure of the beam ends, Galvashield® XP anodes were incorporated in the rehabilitation of the corroding girders to provide protection against the accelerated corrosion of the reinforcing steel.
